Foncebadón is almost the highest point on the Camino. It was near freezing this morning leaving the albergue. We bundled up and headed up for a couple more kilometers until we reached the top of the pass.
There is a cross there where people lay their burdens down. Some are memorial stones. Some are grief. Some are past sins, although they may not express it that way. It is very spontaneous and individual.

Then the way was down hill most of the day. Until noon it was either loose rocks or mud. At the top the air was noticeably thinner and I had to breathe deeper and go slower. My ears popped several times through the morning.
If you look very closely at that last picture in the center is a small village on the hillside.
Most villages we first saw from above looking down at their roofs.
