Yup, storks nesting on the church bell tower in Itero.
Itero was weird. It felt like the set of a spaghetti western. The windows were all barred up. Few people on the street. Both Elizabeth and I felt there was something a bit off. Really just a heightened awareness of our surroundings.
We left with the intent of making some serious miles today.
We passed along the Castile canal for much of our journey. The wind remained cutting and cold.
Midday snack and coffee we're at the lovely little bar in Poblacion ( I think?).
Since we had no reservations we started looking for an alburgue at 1400. The first place we looked into came with recommendations from a bubbly young lady on the street. We went back through the hedge to the bar and alburgue. It looked very artist colony friendly, but maybe not what we were looking for. On to the next town or two.
Five guys from the states who are bicycling the Camino were at the albergue when I got back from the church. I got to help them a bit with coins for the hot water for the shower.

Dios te bendiga!
The picture of the canal with sky reflected in the water is stunning!
ReplyDeleteNeat that you were able to help the five guys.
Beautiful pictures. You guys are half way now. That is so amazing. We'll done!
