This was a look back when leaving Nájera. The morning crew rose and breakfasted, cleaned up and then left.
The days walk saw a change from olive and grape and apricot to grape and mostly wheat. It is a different variety from what I am used to seeing in the states.
We had regular rest stops along the way every few hours. Sometimes just on the side of the road.
Sometimes people would join us.
We wound our way to the Alburgue in Santo Domingo de la Calzada.
They've got things for chickens here. There was a coop by the sinks for clothes washing. I hear there is a rooster in the cathedral. Very curious.
After showers and rest we went out to eat and shop. Most shops are closed between 2:30 and 7:30 it seems. A few bars and restaurants stay open.
After we ate the street scene picked up and we found a few things that's a local supermarket. We had to learn a new skill of weighing the fresh fruit and labeling it for the checkout person. They do not weigh and charge for it at the checkout. Different.
While I am posting Elizabeth is checking out the local church.
I will soon make my way upstairs to the bunk room again.
